Tencate Places Second; Cowgirls Fourth At ASC Championship


ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's cross country team finished fourth and sophomore Sydney Tencate finished second overall at the American Southwest Conference Championship at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

UT Dallas won the team event with 50 points. McMurry was second with 64 points followed by UT Tyler with 94 and Hardin-Simmons was fourth with 97. LeTourneau was fifth with 120.

UTD's Lindsay Rayborn repeated as individual champion. She ran a time of 22:37 in the 6K race. Tencate was second with a time of 22:55.

Lauren Robson finished seventh with a time of 24:17 and she was named the ASC freshman of the year. Tencate and Robson were both first-team all-ASC.

Kaitlyn Garza ran a 26:04 for 26th. Emily ran a 26:30 for 30th place. Yadira Loera ran a 7:15 for 33rd place. Yulissa Rios ran a 7:17 and Katlynn Nichols finished with a 7:25.

Tencate and Robson will run in the NCAA Regional on Nov. 11 in Newport News, Va.
