Cowgirls Close Out Volleyball Season


BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team closed out the 2018 season with a pair of losses on Saturday at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Classic, falling 20-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-11 to our Lady of the Lake University and 25-20, 25-14, 25-18 to St. Thomas.

In the first match of the day against St. Thomas, Kaytlynn Lewis led the offense with nine kills in the match. Karlie Knapek had nine digs to pace the defense. St. Thomas hit .342 in the match and the Cowgirls hit only .069. 

In the season finale against Our Lady of the Lake, the Cowgirls won the first game and then dropped the final three games to take the loss.

Meagan Bauer and Allison Kuster each had 12 kills for the Cowgirls in their final career games. Knapek led the defense with 15 digs.

It was the final career games for Bauer, Kuster, Rebekah Hayes, Peyton Mandrell, Morgan Prince and Leecia DePaula.

The Cowgirls finished the season with a record of 15-12.
