Cowgirls Fall In Three At Howard Payne
BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball team fell 25-23, 27-25, 25-19 in American Southwest Conference action Thursday night at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Cowgirls fell behind 17-7 in the first game but battled back and cut it to 24-23 before the Jackets scored the final point. HSU looked to have control of the second game, leading 21-12, but HPU rallied to win the game.

Howard Payne led most of the way in the deciding game and took the match 3-0.

Lauren Pirkey had eight kills to lead the Cowgirls and Allison Kuster added seven kills. Lauren Wish had 12 digs to lead the defense. Rebekah Hayes had 20 assists and seven digs.

Kailey Doering led a balanced HPU attack with nine kills and Alyssa Beasley and Shelbie Harry had eight kills each.  

HSU is now 8-7 overall and 4-2 in ASC play. HPU improved to 5-8 overall and 3-2 in ASC action. HSU will play at Sul Ross State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
