ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons University will host the 2019 American Southwest Conference Track and Field Championship Friday and Saturday at the HSU Track located off Grape Street.

Both team races are expected to be close and this is the largest contention of competitors in ASC Championship history.

On the men's side, the Cowboys have several athletes that are in the top 50 nationally with their times and marks. Hasanai Chanriang, a two-time NCAA qualifier in the 400 hurdles, currently has the eighth-best time nationally. He is the two-time defending ASC Champion in the event.

HSU 4x400 relay team has the 12th best time in the nation and Tanner Wright ranks 21st in the long jump with a leap of 22-11 ¼.

On the women's side, Jessica Eastham ranks No. 48 in the 100 and No. 65 in the 200 nationally. Kearra Greer ranks No. 57 in the 100 and No. 76 in the 200.

Camryn Aldridge ranks No. 46 in the pole vault nationally and Samantha Pennese has the No. 44 mark in the long jump.

Sydney Tencate will look for her third straight ASC title in the 10,000 and she also has won the 1,500 and the 5,000 before and has four career ASC titles.

The meet will begin on Friday with the 10,000 meters and the continue with field events the rest of the morning. The prelims in the hurdles, begin the rest of Friday's running events at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday will start at 9 a.m. with the 5,000 and then finish up the field events. The rest of the running events will begin at 2:30 on Saturday.
