Cowgirl Track Competes in Matador Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' indoor track competed at the Matador Classic in Lubbock, Texas on Friday.

Kearra Greer led the Cowgirls with an 8.02 in the 60m dash. The rest to compete in the 60m were Johanna Jones (8.32), Julianna Taylor (8.63), and Zada Washington (8.49). Lauren Franklin ran a 9.98 in the 60m hurdles.

Briana Cruz competed in the mile race with a time of 7:00.87. Leslie Gonzalez led the team in the 400m running a 1:07.23. Alexi Bushong competed in the 400m with a time of 1:09.55.

Pennese led the Cowgirls in the 200m with a 27.54. Others who competed in the 200m were Washington (28.07), Taylor (29.02), and Bushong (29.82).

The team leader in the long jump was Pennese with a 16-6 ½ (5.04m). The two other Cowgirls in the long jump were Jones 16-1 (4.90m) and Washington 15-6 ½ (4.73m).

Sydney Cortes led the Cowgirls in the shot put with 34-8 ½ (10.58m). Laura Bennet threw a 31-7 ¼ (9.63m) and Britni Starr had a 33-3 ¼ (10.14m).

Cowgirl track will be home for the first time ever next Saturday for the HSU Relays in Abilene.
