Cowgirl Track Sets More Records in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. – Hardin-Simmons' indoor track competed at the Weilert Invite in Norman, Oklahoma this Saturday.

Senior Sydney Tencate competed in the 3000 with a time of 12:33.20. Tencate also placed tenth overall in the 800m with a 2:34.60.

Keely Eshelman ran a 10.63 in the 60m hurdles. Jamie Talley also competed in the 60H with a time of 10.85.

Jessica Eastham led the Cowgirls with an 8.08 in the 60m dash. The rest to compete in the 60m were Kearra Greer (8.19), Destani Warner (8.24), Kendra Fisher (8.28), Becky Kudayah (8.30), Johanna Jones (8.31), Samantha Pennese (8.55), Julianna Taylor (8.73), Zada Washington (8.75), and Talley (9.18).

Both Eastham and K. Greer qualified for the 60m finals. Eastham placed fifth overall with a time of 7.97 and K. Greer finished ninth with an 8.12.

With her performance, Eastham broke the old record for the 60m of 8.13 held by her teammate Kearra Greer from 2018. She set the new record in her prelim and proceeded to out-do that time with her final time of 7.97, the new school record.

Alex Fulton competed in the mile race with a time of 6:26.50. Baley Green led the team in the 400m running a 1:05.37. Natasha Smith competed in the 400m with a time of 1:11.40.

Fisher led the Cowgirls in the 200m with a 28.04. Others who competed in the 200m were Pennese (28.62), Washington (28.89), Kudayah (29.14), Camryn Aldridge (29.85), Jones (30.51), Smith (30.52), and Eshelman (31.29).

The women's 4x400 team of Warner, K. Greer, Green and Eastham placed sixth overall with a time of 4:18.63.

The team leader in the long jump was Jones with a 16-0 ½ (4.89m). Others in the long jump included Pennese 15-9 (4.80m), Fisher 15-1 ½ (4.61m), Aldridge 14-10 ¾ (4.54m), and Washington 14-5 ¾ (4.41m).

Pennese and Aldridge also competed in the triple jump with jumps of 33-10 ¼ (10.32m) and 32-7 ¾ (9.95m) respectively.

Sydney Cortes led the Cowgirls in the shot put with 33-0 ¼ (10.06m). Laura Bennet threw a 31-9 ½ (9.69m) and Britni Starr had a 29-10 (9.09m).

Cowgirl track will compete next weekend in Lubbock at the Texas Tech Open.
