HSU Competes In Tarleton State Invitational

STEPHENVILLE, Texas  — Hardin-Simmons' track team sent mainly its throwers to the Tarleton State Invitational on Thursday in Stephenville.

Zeth Barron cleared 12-7 1/4 in the pole vault to place sixth.

Dustin Baker advanced to the finals in the shot put and placed sixth with a throw of 45-0 1/4, Cody Parker threw the shot put 37-5.

Baker placed fifth in the discus throw with a 142-2 3/4. Parker went 115-9 and Casey Fenn went 87 7 1/4.

Baker was fourth in the hammer with a throw of 148 2 3/4. Parker was sixth at 137-10 ¾ and Fenn was 11th with a 96-6 ¼ toss.

Barron placed 10th in the javelin with a throw of 140-5. Fenn threw the javelin 123-6 1/4.

On the women's side, Meredith Akers threw 39-11 ½ in the shot put and placed fourth, Evlyn Collins was ninth with a 36-11, Rachel Davis threw 35-8 ½ and Elissa Paniagua threw 26-10.

Davis was eighth in the discus with a 110-10 3/4, Collins ninth 110-5 3/4, Akers 11th at 108-7 ½ and Paniagua 17th with a throw of 98-7 1/4.

Collins was second in the hammer with a 150-0 1/2. Shannon Shipp tossed it 113-7 1/12, Akers went 94-11 1/2, Paniagua 93-5, and Davis 72-1 3/4.

Shelby McIntyre placed eighth with a toss of 102-2 in the javelin.  

HSU will send the rest of its team to the Marc Randall Classic in Tyler on Friday.
