Cowgirls Drop Doubleheader at East Texas Baptist
MARSHALL, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team dropped a doubleheader to East Texas Baptist, 8-1 and 6-0, in American Southwest Conference play on Friday evening in Marshall.

Game 1

ETBU scored four runs in the first inning on a Linzie Lewis RBI groundout, a two-run double by Gabby Gonzales and a Kaitlyn Hollingshead bases loaded hit by pitch. The Tigers added single runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth innings.

Ashley Brown drove in the Cowgirls' only run with a single in the fifth.

Lexie Allen took the loss allowing four runs in the first inning. Genia Jones worked the final five and one-third innings allowing three earned runs.

Rocki Tello improved to 12-3 for the Tigers as she allowed just one run one six hits in six innings. McKayla Hendrix worked the final inning.

Alexis Vines and KeAmbria Hunter had two hits for HSU and Gonzales and Jayme Perez had two hits each for the Tigers.

Game 2

Jordan Anderson tossed a one-hit shutout for the Tigers to improve to 14-2. She struck out eight batters and did not walk anyone.

ETBU scored on a Lacey Lindsey RBI single in the second and Morgan Arst had an RBI single in the third and Lewis had a two-run home run. Lindsey Vasquez had a two-run single in the fourth.

Christa Garcia had the lone Cowgirl hit and Vasquez had two hits for the Tigers.

Lara Ammermann went the distance and fell to 1-5 after allowing eight hits and six runs.

The Cowgirls are now 17-21 overall and 11-18 in ASC action. ETBU improved to 32-6 on the year and 24-5 in conference play. The teams will close the series at noon on Friday.
