Cowgirls get Coach Wood his 350th Win

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won 3-0 over Grove City on Friday night at the HSU Soccer Complex. This win was number 350 for head coach Marcus Wood.

Hayden Abor scored in the 28th minute off a Kendell Groom assist to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead early. Avery Lara would add the second Cowgirl goal in the 31st minute with a Casady Jenkins assist to make it 2-0.

Rachel Bean scored the last Cowgirl goal in the 63rd minute to make it a 3-0 win, and a big one for head coach Marcus Wood, making it his 350th career win. Coach Wood now has a career record of 350-39-29 in his 20th year at Hardin-Simmons.

The Cowgirls had 15 total shots with seven on target and the Grove City Wolverines had three shots and two on frame. The Cowgirls had six corners to the Wolverines' zero.

Kayla Gable got the start in goal for the Cowgirls and recorded her first shutout in the win with two saves. Grove City keeper Columbia Harkrader had four saves in the loss.

The Cowgirls are now 2-2-1 on the season and will host Piedmont College at the HSU Soccer Complex Saturday night at 7 p.m.
