ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team scored seven goals in a victory over Concordia on Sunday afternoon's American Southwest Conference game.
Madelyn Dowell put her team up two goals after a nice run and shot by Kenne Kessler, which was deflected and recovered by Dowell for the finish. A Morgan McAdams corner was later blocked by a Tornado defender only to be rebounded by Sarah Krisa, who put in the Cowgirl's third goal at 33 minutes.
Rachel Bean stole a Tornado goal kick with a nice header, which led Finda Kollie into a one-on-one with the keeper, who made it a 4-0 HSU lead heading into the half. Taylor Bernal earned a PK at 56 minutes and finished it herself down the middle.
Cayden Etheridge deflected a Concordia clearance in the 64th minute and got it to Krisa for her second goal of the day. Elly Green wrapped up the scoring for HSU after a Kollie cross, making the final 7-0 Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls had 24 shots with 15 on frame while the Tornados totaled four shots and two on goal.
Caitlin Christiansen got her 11th win of the season in goal for HSU, recording two saves. Shelby Franco had eight saves in the contest for Concordia.
HSU (11-1-1, 8-0-1 ASC) will travel to play UMHB Monday at 5 p.m. The Cowgirls will be back in Abilene on Thursday night to play at McMurry.
