ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team kept their hot streak going on Saturday with a 6-0 win over Texas Tyler in American Southwest Conference play.
Josey Meyer got the game going by bending one in off a corner into the back corner of the goal, making it 1-0 Cowgirls in the fourth minute. Meyer then shared the love and placed a corner for a perfect header goal by Rachel Bean in the sixth minute.
Morgan McAdams added the third Cowgirl goal off her own corner kick in the 34th, minute. Not to be out-done, Meyer scored her second goal in close after an Avery Lara looping cross inside the box, making it 4-0 HSU.
The fifth Cowgirl goal was scored in the 40th minute by Brenna Ebbinghaus, headed in off a Baylee Ford corner. Kayci Peak finished the night off with a nice one-touch goal from a Mackensie Moreno cross in the 85th minute to make the final 6-0 in favor of the Cowgirls.
Hardin-Simmons managed 18 shots and nine on goal, while the Patriots were held to nine with three on frame. Although Texas Tyler did have some quality possession, the corner kicks were still dominated by the Cowgirls, 11-0. HSU already has 76 total corner kicks in eight games played.
Caitlin Christiansen got the win in goal with one save. Casey Carrillo started the second-half and recorded two saves, one extremely nice save off an in-close free kick attempt. Kayla Gable finished the game in goal for the Cowgirls without seeing a shot.
HSU (8-1, 6-0 ASC) will return to action this Thursday at 5 p.m. at Louisiana College.
