GENEVA, N.Y. – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won its first game of the 2018 season, 2-0, over the University of Rochester to finish off their New York road trip.

Hardin-Simmons struck first late in the game, in the 82nd minute, on a goal from Finda Kollie in tight with an assist from Elly Green.

A well-executed corner from Josey Meyer followed by a headed-pass from Finda Kollie led to a Kenne Kessler goal in the 86th minute, putting the Cowgirls up 2-0.

HSU had 11 shots with eight of them on goal, while Rochester totaled three shots and a single on goal.

Despite getting the loss, Rochester's keeper Emma Schechter did have six saves of the eight shots on goal. Caitlin Christiansen saved the lone shot on goal she saw and recorded the shutout victory for the Cowgirls.

HSU (1-1) wraps up their weekend in New York and returns to action at 8 p.m. next Friday at Trinity.
