Cowgirls Drop Season Opener at No. 7 William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team lost 2-0 at No. 7 William Smith on Friday afternoon in the season opener in New York.

William Smith got on the board in the 44th minute with a shot from Megan Barwick, assisted by Meghan McKenna from in close. Later, in the 79th minute, the Herons got their second goal from Julia Keogh after a nice cross from Sarah Olick-Sutphen. 

The Cowgirls had four shots in the contest with one on frame. William Smith had 10 shots in the game, three being on goal.

Caitlin Christiansen recorded one save, which matched the efforts of the Herons' goalkeeper Amanda Kessler, who got the shutout victory.

HSU (0-1) closes its New York trip against Rochester (N.Y.) Saturday at noon.
