Kessler Ties School Record With Five Goals as Cowgirls Roll

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons junior Kenne Kessler scored five times to tie the school record for goals in a game as the Cowgirls rolled to 13-0 win over Belhaven in American Southwest Conference action at the HSU Soccer Complex.

Kirsten Parrish gave the Cowgirls a quick start with a pair of header goals from Josey Meyer corner kicks in the first 5:25 of the game.

Kessler then took over with three straight goals at 11:01, 23:22 and 29:37 to give the Cowgirls a 5-0 lead and Rachel Bean scored just before halftime to make it 6-0.

Taylor Bernal scored a pair of goals two minutes apart is the 51st and 53rd minutes. Kessler then scored a pair of goals exactly a minute apart at 59:58 and 60:58. She immediately left the game after the fifth goal. The fifth goal tied Mollie Porter's school record set in 2004.

Elly Green then scored two goals and Rachel Bean added her second of the game to make it 13-0 at the 79:54 mark.

Caitlin Christiansen worked the first half and Casey Carrillo and Kayla Gable shared the second half in goal. Noelle Hill had 11 saves for Belhaven as the Cowgirls outshot Belhaven 37-4 overall and 24-2 on target.

The Cowgirls are now 10-0 on the year and 6-0 in conference play. Belhaven fell to 2-8-1 overall and 1-5 in ASC play. HSU will host Louisiana College at 1 p.m. Saturday for Senior Day.
