Cowgirls Beat Sul Ross State, 8-1, On Senior Day
ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team beat Sul Ross State 8-1 in American Southwest Conference action as the Cowgirls celebrated senior day on Saturday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.

HSU saw its scoreless streak come to an end in the game, just 24 minutes short of the school record for the longest amount of shutout time. The Cowgirls ended with a tie for the school record of 11 straight shutouts. The goal came on an own goal by the Cowgirls.

Kami Jones put the Cowgirls on the board just 1:23 into the game. Jordan Lara scored on a Jones assist in the eighth minute and Kenne Kessler scored on a Jones assist in the 17th minute. Taylor Bernal scored in the 38th minute off a Gabby Hadly assist to make it 4-0 at halftime.

Sul Ross State scored on the own goal in the 54th minute and Jones added a goal off a double assist from Sarah Krisa and Kirsten Parrish in the 62nd minute. It was Jones' 19th goal of the year.

Lara added her 10th goal of the season in the 65th minute. Parrish and Bernal added goals for the Cowgirls.

Lara, Hadly and Haylee Foster were honored in a ceremony before their final regular-season game at home.

HSU outshot Sul Ross State 32-6 in the game and 19-6 on goal. Caitlin Christiansen had six saves for the Cowgirls in the win.

HSU is now 14-1 on the year and 9-0 in ASC action. Sul Ross State fell to 6-8-1 overall and 4-6-1 in league play. HSU closes the regular season next weekend at LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist.
