Cowgirls In Fifth At West Region Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the West Region Invitational being held at the Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.

The Cowgirls are again playing with four players as their top two players recover from injuries. HSU shot a 356 in the first round.

Taylor Thompson led the Cowgirls with an 84 and is tied for 18th overall. Jordan Daggs had an 87, Baylee Oehlert shot an 89 and Kayleigh Mints had a 96.

Mary Hardin-Baylor shot a 315 and is four strokes ahead of UT-Tyler. Southwestern is third with a 325, Trinity had a 327 followed by HSU and Schreiner. Olivia Robinson of UMHB shot a 74 and has a three-stroke lead in the medalist race.

The teams will play one round on Tuesday to conclude the tournament.
