Cowgirls Win First Golf Tournament Since 2008

HOBBS, N.M. – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team won the Rockwind Links Intercollegiate for its first win since 2008 on Monday afternoon in Hobbs, N.M.

The Cowgirls shot an impressive 318 in the final round and finished the two-round tournament with a 324-318-642. HSU beat Schreiner by nine shots. UT Dallas was third with a 666, Southwestern was fourth with a 667 and McMurry fifth with a 687 total. East Texas Baptist, Texas Lutheran, University of the Southwest and Howard Payne rounded out the field.

Junior Baylee Oehlert won her second career individual title as she carded an 80-75-155 total to win the medalist race. She won by a single stroke over Reygan Rodrigez of Schreiner and Marissa Langer of UTD.

Oehlert is just the fifth Cowgirl to win multiple tournaments in a career and the first since Kristi Martin (2004-07).

Heidi Moser had a top-five finish as well as she shot 79-80-159 to finish fifth. Ashley Riemitis shot 83-81-164 to finish in a tie for seventh. Kayleigh Mints had rounds of 82 and 85 for 167 total to place 14th and Jordan Daggs shot 89-82-171 to place 19th.  

HSU returns to action Oct 1-2 at the Lady Crusader Invitational in Glen Rose.
