Cowgirls In The Lead At McMurry Invitational

HOBBS, N.M. – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in first place after the first day of the McMurry Invitational that is being played at the par-72, 5,875-yard Rockwind Links in Hobbs, N.M.

Heidi Moser led the way for the Cowgirls with a 79 and she is second overall in the medalist race. Baylee Oehlert fired an 80, Kayleigh Mints an 82 and Ashley Riemitis had an 83 and Jordan Daggs shot 89.

As a team, the Cowgirls 324 total gives them a nine-stroke lead over Schreiner and 11 shots over Southwestern and UT Dallas. McMurry is fifth with a 336, East Texas Baptist is sixth with a 348, followed by Texas Lutheran, University of the Southwest and Howard Payne.

Kendalyn Ferguson of McMurry shot a 75 to lead the medalist race by four strokes.

The teams will play 18 holes on Monday to conclude the event.
