Cowgirls Sit In Third Place At the ASC Championship

AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's golf team is in third place after the first day of the American Southwest Conference Championship that is being played at the par-72, 5,826-yard Avery Ranch Golf Club in Austin.

The Cowgirls had a solid round of 325 and currently sit nine strokes off the lead that is held by Mary Hardin-Baylor. UT Tyler is second with a 322. Concordia is in fourth place after shooting a 336 and UT Dallas is one stroke back of the Tornados with a 337. Howard Payne, LeTourneau and UC Santa Cruz round out the field.

Ashley Riemitis led a tightly-bunched Cowgirls' team with a 79 and she is tied for sixth overall. Kayleigh Mints shot an 81, Heidi Moser fired an 82 and Baylee Oehlert had an 83. Kelsie Guinn finished with an 85.

Concordia's Holly Mendez leads the individual race after shooting a 75. She has a one-stroke lead over McKenna Ralston of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Taylor Denton of UT Tyler.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
