SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team fell 76-56 at Trinity on Tuesday night in non-conference action.
The two teams played a tight first quarter with TU leading 16-14. Taylor Gaffney hit a bucket to start the second quarter to tie the game at 16. Trinity then went on a 12-2 run to open up the lead. The Tigers led 38-29 at halftime.
Trinity pulled away as they converted 29 HSU turnovers into 31 points.
Danie Mabry led the Cowgirls with 15 points. Katie Irvin led Trinity with 24 points and Emily Daniel scored 16. Both players were off the bench and led to a 45-17 advantage in bench scoring.
The Cowgirls are now 5-19 on the year and Trinity improved to 19-3. HSU will close the regular season on Saturday against McMurry at the Mabee Complex. HSU needs a win and two losses by Sul Ross State this week to extend its season.
