SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team fell 73-48 to Trinity in the Tiger Tip-Off Classic on Saturday evening in San Antonio.
The Cowgirls hung with the seventh-ranked Tigers through much of the first half and trailed just 36-28 at halftime.
Trinity came out strong in the third quarter to put the game away by forcing 13 turnovers in the quarter and outscoring the Cowgirls 22-11. In the game, the Cowgirls turned the ball over 29 times that led to 38 points off turnovers for the Tigers.
Senior Danie Mabry was the only Cowgirl in double figures with 10 points. Senior Heidi Schroeder had her best game of the season with seven points and eight rebounds as she works her back from a preseason injury.
Trinity was led by its two preseason all-Americans Abby Holland and Micah Weaver, both who scored 18 points.
The Cowgirls (2-1) will play Cornell College at noon on Sunday. Trinity improved to 2-1 with the win.
