Cowgirls Pick Up Road Conference Win
CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team beat Ozarks 70-66 on Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action in Clarksville, Ark.

The Cowgirls did a great job of taking care of the basketball with a season-low nine turnovers and were able to turn that into a come-from-behind win in the fourth quarter.

The teams played a back and forth first quarter that saw the Eagles lead 15-13 after the first quarter. UO pushed the lead to as many as eight in the second quarter, but HSU trimmed the deficit to 29-28 on a pair of Logan Redding free throws with 1:01 to play in the quarter. Ozarks scored the final four points of the half to take a 34-29 lead.

The Cowgirls rallied from a 40-33 deficit with a 13-2 run in the third quarter with Heidi Schroeder scoring six points in the run and Danie Mabry making back-to-back baskets. The game was tied at 50 going into the final quarter.

HSU trailed 63-60 with 3:00 to play when Redding tied the game with a three-point play and Kayla Brown and Ja'Lee Carver each hit a pair of free throws to make it 67-63. HSU held on down the stretch at the line to get the much-needed road victory.

Kourtney Holyfield led a balanced Cowgirl attack with 13 points and Schroeder and Redding had 11 points each.

Bryanna Moltz led Ozarks with 19 points and Diamond Goodwyn added 14 off the bench.

Both teams are now 6-7 overall and HSU is 2-3 in league play and Ozarks is 2-4. The Cowgirls will play at UT Dallas at 1 p.m. Saturday.
