Cowgirls Fall At Austin College
SHERMAN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team fell 77-70 at Austin College on Saturday Afternoon at Hughey Gym in Sherman.

The Kangaroos rallied in the fourth quarter for the win thanks to some hot shooting of their own and cold shooting by the Cowgirls. AC was 8-for-13 from the field in the final quarter and HSU was just 5-of-22. AC also went 11-of-15 at the foul line in the quarter to outscore the Cowgirls 29-14 in the period.

The teams played an even first quarters and a 3-pointer by Jasmine McClellan and a Heidi Schroeder jumper in the final minute of the quarter gave HSU a 17-16 lead. The Cowgirls pushed the lead to 33-29 at halftime.

HSU looked to take control in the third quarter when Kourtney Holyfield hit four straight 3-pointers for the Cowgirls and Kayla Brown added three points of her own to give HSU a 50-41 lead. The Cowgirls led 56-48 going into the fourth quarter.

AC opened the quarter on a 19-2 run by going 7-for-8 from the field and took a 66-58 lead with 5:51 to play and was able to ice the game at the free throw line with eight makes in the final two minutes, when the Cowgirls had to foul to extend the game.

Holyfield led the Cowgirls with a season-best 26 points, including a career-best eight 3-pointers. Kayla Brown had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Ja'Lee Carver added 10 points, six steals, five assists and five rebounds.

Ann Savage had 20 points and Bryce Frank added 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Kangaroos.

HSU is now 5-7 on the year and AC improved to 9-3. The Cowgirls return to conference play on Saturday in
