Cowgirls End Semester With Blowout of Schreiner
ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball team beat Schreiner 65-45 on Monday afternoon at the Mabee Complex to close out the fall semester.

Schreiner led early 14-10 but the Cowgirls closed the first quarter on a 10-2 run to take a 20-16 lead that they would not relinquish. HSU pushed the lead out to 37-23 on a Colleen Young 3-pointer to cap a 12-1 run in the second quarter.

HSU put the game away early in the third quarter when Ja'Lee Carver scored seven straight points to push the lead to 48-26 with 5:37 to play in the period and HSU led 56-32 after three quarters.

The Cowgirls were able to play all 13 players and 11 of the 13 scored in the game. HSU also shared the ball as well as it had all season with 19 assists on 23 made baskets.

HSU also hit 23-of-47 shots for 48.9 percent, which is the best the Cowgirls have shot in a game since the season-opening win at Texas Lutheran. The seven 3-point makes were also a season high.

Carver led a balanced Cowgirl attack with her best game as a Cowgirl with 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Heidi Schroeder added 12 points for HSU.

Cassandra Aleman led Schreiner with 10 points.

The Cowgirls are 5-6 on the year and Schreiner fell to 1-7 on the season. HSU is off until New Year's Eve when it plays at Austin College.
