TYLER, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons' men's cross country team placed sixth in the American Southwest Conference Championship on Saturday morning on the Texas-Tyler campus.
The Cowboys finished the race with 168 points. Texas-Tyler won the event with 19 points to easily outdistance the field. Concordia was second with 67, LeTourneau was third with 97, Texas-Dallas fourth with 98 and East Texas Baptist fifth with 99. Sul Ross State, Ozarks and Louisiana College finished out the standings.
Clay Smith finished ninth overall and seventh in counting runners with a time of 28:08 and he qualifies for the regional meet next week.
Ryan House was 34th with a 30:42, Blake Crum and Joel Templeton finished 67th and 68th with times of 33:23 and 33:24. Clancey Lynch was 70th with a 33:40, Chris Molina ran 34:20 and Colton Bailey ran a 36:42.
Connor Benson of Texas-Tyler won the race with a 26:44 by :19 over teammate Alex Wilson.
