ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' cross country teams ran at the Bill Libby Invitational on Saturday morning at Nelson Park in Abilene.
Clay Smith was the top finisher for the Cowboys, placing sixth with a time of 21:48. Ryan House ran a 24:27 to place 31st and Joel Templeton ran a 28:33 in his first collegiate race. The course was a four-mile course for the men.
Kristen Steele led the Cowgirls with a time of 22:10 for a 19th place finish. Shelby Thomas ran a 22:35 and Ashley Sutton a 22:49 to place 21st and 22nd respectively. Erin Ray ran a 25:21, Mykala Williams ran 25:36 and Kimberly Morrow 29:05.
The women's race was a 5K race and Jazmine Garcia of Our Lady of the Lake won the race with a 19:21.
The teams are off until Sept. 27 when they host the HSU Stampede.
