New Cowboy Track Records at Texas Tech Open

LUBBOCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's track competed in Lubbock on Friday and Saturday at the Texas Tech Open and set three new records.

The men's 4x400 team of Hasanai "Go" Chanriang, Malik Pratt, Tanner Wright, and Aaron Martinez set a new Cowboy track record running a 3:20.92.

Tyler Rohrman broke another Cowboy track record in the 5000m and placed fifth overall with a time of 16:21.79. River Smith also ran in the 5000m with a 17:14.73. Trey Denton ran in the 3000m with a time of 10:29.10.

A. Martinez beat his own track record in the 800m with a time of 1:57.30. Pratt ran a 2:01.79 and Steven Hicks ran a 2:12.88 in the 800m as well.

Smith led the team in the mile with a 4:52.84. Denton had a 5:02.24, Sammy Magallen ran a 5:04.94 mile, William Stout had a 5:21.50, and Michael Clark clocked a 5:29.86.

Joe Gilligan had a time of 9.25 in the 60m hurdles.

E.J. Konah led the Cowboys in the 60m dash with a time of 7.21. Other Cowboys who competed in the 60m were Juwan Crawford (7.36), Wright (7.31), Teddy McIntyre (7.49), Daelen Warren-Fruge (7.43), and Samuel Wells (7.49) 

"Go" Chanriang ran a team-best 50.82 400m. Mahoney had a 53.34, Steven Hick ran a 54.85, Ethan Ramirez ran a 55.20, and Samuel Wells had a 56.28 in the 400.

Wright led the team in the 200m dash with a time of 22.87. Other sprinters in the 200m for the Cowboys included Crawford (23.16), Straw (24.14), Warren-Fruge (24.09), and Shane Webber (24.50).

McIntyre competed in the triple jump with a 39-3 (11.96m). Konah also competed in the triple with a 36-4 ¾ (11.09m).

Cowboy track will return to action on Feb. 15 in Lubbock for the Texas Tech Matador Classic.
