HSU Track and Field Competes At Bobcat Invitational, Texas Relays

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' track and field teams competed at both the Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos on Friday and Saturday.

The teams battled windy conditions throughout the meet but were able to come out with several personal records.

Destani Warner ran a 12.96 to lead the 100 runners. Jessica Eastham ran a 1:00.91 in the 400. Pennesse ran a 26.68 in the 200, Kearra Greer ran a 27.30 and Natasha Smith a 28.46.

Samantha Pennese jumped 15-5 in the long jump and a 33-2 in the triple jump. Paige Lindstrom had an 89-6 in the javelin.

Sydney Tencate ran a 5:02 in the 1,500 and Lauren Robson added a 5:09. In the 800 Robson had a 2:24 and Tencate ran a 2:27.  

Natasha Smith ran a 1:16 in the 400 hurdles.

Lorenzo Jones ran a 2:02 in the 800 and was just a second off the school record. Ben Splain ran a 2:06 and Jylan Burris ran a 2:09.

Chase Mann ran an 11.64 in the 100. In the 200, Mann ran a 23.54, Burris a 24.01 and Antojuan Spoons a 24.56.

Jylan Burris ran a 1:00.25 in the 400 hurdles and Jacob Aguirre ran a 1:01.51. Lorenzo Jones ran a 52.22 in the 400.

Ben Splain ran a 4:24 in the 1,500 and Sammy Magallen ran a 4:25.

Devon Drane had a 42-4 in the shot put.

The Cowboys also sent some of their top athletes to the Texas Relays. Hasanai Chanriang competed in the 400 hurdles and the 4x100 and 4x400 teams also ran in the event.

Hasanai Chanriang ran a 54.03 in the 400 hurdles. Clayton Holmes, Myles Stennis, Chanriang and Brandon Sparks-Moffett ran a 43.45 in the 4x100 relay. Stennis, Nygel Starling, Zach Fitch and Chanriang ran a 3:30.16 in the 4x400 relay.
