Cowboys Win Thriller Against Connecticut College


ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team beat Connecticut College 5-4 on Monday at the Streich Tennis Center to snap a three-game losing skid.

Freshman Joshua Lopez came up big with the match tied at 4-4 by winning 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles to give the Cowboys the win. He also teamed with Christopher Beavers to win 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Holt Fields and Keenan Nash won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles to give HSU a 2-1 advantage heading to singles play.

Senior Alex Hunt had to rally at No. 1 singles, falling 6-4 in the first set. Hunt then rolled over Gui Garcia Rincon 6-1, 6-1 in the final two sets. Nathaniel Schoendorf won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

The Camels won at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles to tie the match up at 3-3 before Lopez finished it off.

HSU is now 3-6 on the year and CC fell to 3-3. The Cowboys are off until a week from Friday when it hosts Schreiner at 2 p.m.
