Cowboys Have Solid First Day At ASC Individuals
ABILENE, Texas – Weather played havoc with the American Southwest Conference Individual Tournament that is being played all around Abilene this weekend.

Doubles action was wiped out on Friday and play was halted around 6 p.m. the teams will try to finish the tournament on Saturday, weather permitting. Teams are playing at the old and new HSU courts, McMurry, Abilene Christian and Rose Park. 

Alex Hunt won his first match in flight one singles 6-2, 6-1 over Conner Mason of East Texas Baptist. He will play Johnathan Christie of Schreiner in the semifinals of the flight.

Griffin Weinkam won his first match 6-1, 6-1 over Edgar Torres of Howard Payne and will play ETBU's Dillo Deatherage in the semifinals.

B.J. Farmakis won his first match 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 to Cody Highsmith of ETBU, but lost in the semifinals to Jimmy Henson of LeTourneau, 6-3, 6-0.

Chandler Livingston won in the first round of flight four but fell to Nathan Torres in the semifinals. Ben Gutierrez lost in the first round before winning in a consolation match, 6-1, 6-4 in flight five.

Michael Boyd won 6-1, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the flight six finals. Keenan Nash split matches in flight seven.

Andrew Eurek is into the finals in flight eight singles after a pair of wins and Andrew White won a pair of matches in flight nine to advance to the finals.

In flight 10 singles Cameron Vose is into the finals after beating teammate Nathan Talburt in the semifinals. Matthew Eurek lost his first match and then won a consolation match.

Hayden Keller and Travis Reid each lost their first match in flight 11 and rebounded with wins in the consolation bracket and will play each other for the consolation title.
