Cowboys Picked Second in ASC West

Cowboys Picked Second in ASC West
RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons men's tennis team was picked to place second in the American Southwest Conference West Division in a preseason poll of the league's coaches and sports information directors.

Texas-Dallas was narrowly picked to win the ASC West division over the Cowboys. UTD had five first-place votes and 43 total poll points. The Cowboys received the other five first-place votes and 42 poll points. Mary Hardin-Baylor, Howard Payne and Sul Ross State rounded out the poll.

Defending league champion Texas-Tyler was picked to win the ASC East. The Patriots return eight players from a team that went 22-4 overall and 10-0 in ASC play last season.

HSU returns four starters from a team that went 11-11 overall and 7-3 in conference play last year. Sophomore Sam May and freshman B.J. Farmakis were named to the ASC Player to Watch list.

After a one-year alignment as a single division in 2014, the American Southwest Conference has returned to the traditional East and West Division format that began in 1999.

The Cowboys will open the season on Feb. 6 when it hosts Trinity.
