Cowboys Drop Close Match To Ozarks

RICHARDSON, Texas  — Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team opened up a five-match American Southwest Conference weekend with a 5-4 loss to the University of the Ozarks on Thursday afternoon at UT-Dallas in Richardson.

Ozarks opened the match by winning two of the three doubles. Freshmen Andrew Eurek and Sam May at No. 3 were the only Cowboys to win in double play.

HSU battled back with wins at No. 1 by Erich Bein, No. 3 by Nathan Chavez and No. 4 by May. Jordan Wilson and Andrew Eurek each lost at No. 5 and No. 6. All of those matches were finished in straight sets.

The match came down to No. 2 singles and Bishop Bass rallied to win the final two sets 6-4, 6-4 over Michael McCullough after McCullough had won the opening set 7-5.

HSU is now 2-6 on the year and 1-1 in league play. Ozarks improved to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in conference action. HSU will play UT-Dallas on Friday.
