Cowboys Drop Contest to UMHB 2-1

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Mary-Hardin Baylor Cru on Monday night in American Southwest Conference action.

The Cru scored first in the 11th minute with a Nick Villanueva goal off a Seth Neveloff long ball in. The Cru would score again with a Jason Goodin break-away in the 75th minute.

Xander Sorenson got the Cowboys within striking distance with a goal off a Freddy Hernandez corner in the 84th minute, but the deficit could not be overcome, and the Cowboys fell by a final of 2-1.

The Cowboys had 12 shots with three on goal and the Cru had 11 shots and five on frame. The Cowboys led in corners with 11 to the Cru's two.

Trent Ivy started in goal for the Cowboys and had three saves in the game. Dalton Lloyd started at keeper for the Cru and had two saves in the win.

The Cowboys fall to 13-3-1 and 6-3-1 in the ASC. The Cru are now 11-5-1 and 7-3 in the conference. The Cowboys return Friday to host McMurry at 7:30 p.m. for the Cowboy Soccer Senior Day game.
