Cowboys Win 2-0 at Howard Payne

BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team won 2-0 on the road against Howard Payne on Thursday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

Kiko Redondo started the scoring in the 18th minute with the first Cowboy goal to make it 1-0. Freshman Cowboy Gabe Carballo got his first career goal in the 74th minute to make it a 2-0 win for HSU.

The Cowboys had 18 shots in the game with nine on frame and the Yellow Jackets had seven total shots. The Cowboys also had five corner kicks to Howard Payne's four.

Trent Ivy got the start in the net and got the win for the Cowboys while Yellow Jacket keeper Andrew Hackney had seven saves in the loss.

The Cowboys move to 12-2 on the season and 5-2 in ASC play while Howard Payne falls to 3-12 and 1-6 in the conference. HSU Soccer returns to action on Saturday at Sul Ross State to play at 3 p.m. in Alpine.
