LONGVIEW, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team dropped its first game of the season at LeTourneau 3-1 on Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.
The Yellow Jackets scored in the 65th minute to start it with a Varney Carter goal. They added two more, both from Oliver Placencia, in the 75th and 79th minutes.
The Cowboys had a Freddy Hernandez goal in the 81st minute, but couldn't tack on any more, making it the first loss for the team 3-1 to LeTourneau, snapping the program record 10-game winning streak.
The Cowboys had 11 shots and two on goal while the Yellow Jackets had 19 shots and 10 on frame. The Cowboys had five corner kicks to LeTourneau's three.
Rafa Mejorado had five saves on the start for the Cowboys and LeTourneau keeper Diego Berlingeri had a save in the win.
The Cowboys fall to 10-1 and 3-1 in ASC play and LeTourneau moves to 4-5 and 2-2 in the conference. The Cowboys return to Abilene next Thursday at 7 p.m. to host Ozarks.
