RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team won 3-1 over the No. 9 Trinity Tigers on Sunday night playing a neutral site game at the UT Dallas campus in Richardson.
The Cowboys' Freddy Hernandez got off to a fast start and scored within the first minute off an Andrew Vasquez assist. Hernandez scored his second goal of the match in the 20th minute, and the Cowboys third goal came in a Tiger own goal.
Armann Islam would score a Tiger goal in the 50th minute off a Jake Simon assist, and the Cowboys would finish with a 3-1 victory over the No. 9 Trinity Tigers.
The Cowboys had four shots and three on goal while the Tigers actually out-shot them with 16 shots and seven on frame. Trinity also led with six corners to HSU's one, but the Cowboys made the most of their opportunities to win the big statistic in the goal category.
Rafa Mejorado had six saves in a full game of action at keeper for the Cowboys. The Tigers started with Blake Liebermann in goal who had one save in the first half of play and Juan Carlos Vidales played the second in the net.
The Cowboys are now 4-0 and head home to Abilene to play Texas College at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
