ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell 2-1 to UT Dallas in the quarterfinal match of the ASC tournament on Tuesday night, concluding their season.
The top seed Comets scored in the 26th minute after a failed clear attempt was corralled by Jordan Henderson, who put the team up 1-0. Jackson Huckaby added the second UTD goal after a break away from a cross by Jesse Ardila, making it 2-0 at half.
The Cowboys would fight back and get a goal from Kiko Redondo in the 85th minute off a deflection, but could not force an equalizer, falling 2-1.
The Cowboys out-shot the Comets 14-8, with on goal numbers being 8-5 respectively. The Cowboys also had five corners while UTD had none.
Trent Ivy got three saves while Comet keeper Chase Therrien had seven in the contest.
HSU finishes the year with a 4-11-2 record. This was the final game for a great group of seniors, which included Jack Griffiths, Fonso Chavez, Abate Hennessy, David Rice, Preston Hillis, and Fabio Scaief.
