LONGVIEW, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell to LeTourneau Saturday night 2-1 in double overtime in this weekend's American Southwest Conference match-up.
The Yellow Jackets opened scoring in the 34th minute by a goal from Eric Smith. The Cowboys answer came late, at 77 minutes, from Asa Robicheaux to tie the game at 1-1 headed to overtime.
LeTourneau would finish the game with a goal from Moises Soto-Barrera off an Alec Wier cross in the 109th minute. This was the Cowboys third trip to overtime in eight games this season, the second double overtime match.
HSU had an astounding 26 shots and six on goal, to LeTourneau's nine total shots, with six on frame. The Cowboys also led in corners, 18 to eight.
Trent Ivy had four saves in the match, while Yellow Jacket keeper C.J. Leyva had five in the win.
HSU (0-6-1, 0-3 ASC) returns to Abilene to face Ozarks Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
