ABILENE, Texas – Concordia scored two second-half goals to beat Hardin-Simmons 2-1 in American Southwest Conference men's soccer action at the HSU Soccer Complex on Thursday afternoon.
The Cowboy defense held tight until Alejandro Labastida finished off a Nash Cole pass to tie the game at the 73:49 mark.
Bryan Luna then gave the Tornados the lead in the 82' when he beat the Cowboy defense and finished one-on-one with the Trent Ivy. Ivy had just saved back-to-back shots just about a minute earlier when he was one-on-one with Martin Medina.
Concordia outshot the Cowboys 19-14 and 12-5 in shots on goal. Ivy had 10 saves for the Cowboys and Rob Oakley had four saves for the Tornados.
HSU must rebound quickly as conference leader Mary Hardin-Baylor comes to town on Saturday. HSU is 5-4-2 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play. Concordia improved to 8-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in league play.
