Men’s Soccer Wins Second Straight

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team picked up its second straight win by defeating Louisiana College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action at the HSU Soccer Complex.

The Cowboys broke a scoreless game with a goal in the 51st minute from Jorge Cerrillo off an assist from David Rice. It was the first goal of the season for Cerrillo.

LC answered back in the 56th minute with a goal from Francisco Silvestre to tie the game at 1-1.

For the second straight game, Frane Vidosevic found the back of the net with the game winner, this time in the 66th minute. It was his fifth goal of the season.

HSU outshot the Wildcats 22-12 in the contest and 7-5 in shots on target. HSU also had an 11-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Carlos Enriquez picked up the win in goal with four saves for the Cowboys. Nathan Gautreaux took the loss for LC.

The Cowboys are now 4-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play. LC fell to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in ASC action. HSU will hit the road to face UT-Dallas in a rematch of last year's ASC final and then play at Howard Payne next week.
