TYLER, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Texas-Tyler in American Southwest Conference action on Thursday night in Tyler.
Lucas Pereira scored in the 12th minute when his deflection in the box found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The game stayed 1-0 until Leandro Fernandez scored unassisted in the 80th minute to put the game out of reach for the Patriots.
Trent Ivey had three saves for the Cowboys. John McGuffin worked the shutout for UTT with two saves.
The Patriots outshot the Cowboys 12-6 in the contest and 5-2 on frame. It was the first time this season the Cowboys had allowed more than one goal in a contest.
The Cowboys are 2-2-1 on the year and 1-1-1 in conference play. UTT improved to 5-2-2 overall and 4-1 in league play. HSU will play at the University of the Ozarks on Saturday at 3:30 in Clarksville, Ark.
