LITTLE ROCK – Hardin-Simmons senior linebacker Chris Miller has been named one of the nominees for the Cliff Harris Award, that is given to the top small college defensive player in the country.
Miller led the Cowboys' defense with 95 tackles on the year and he had 11 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks an interception and blocked two kicks.
Miller was one of two defensive captains for the Cowboys and he was named second-team all-American Southwest Conference.
The list will be narrowed down to 20 finalists from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA before the award is presented. The award is named after former Dallas Cowboy standout safety Cliff Harris, who starred at Ouachita Baptist.
