ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' had four players named to the Division III academic all-district VIII team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The CoSIDA academic awards program is the top academic awards program in the country and is sponsored by Google Cloud. The members of the all-district teams are but on the national ballot for Academic All-American honors.
The players are voted on by both their academic credentials as well as their credentials on the field and are voted on by Athletic Communication professionals across the district. There is just one team of 25 players by position. District VIII includes all of the Division III teams in California, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
Patrick Riley and Blake Johnston are repeat selections for the Cowboys. Riley a senior from San Antonio was named to the team as an offensive lineman and Johnston, a junior from Abilene, was named as a defensive back. Riley is a 3.75 biology major. Johnston is a 3.71 exercise science major.
Reese Childress was named to the team as a special teams player and Ty Crain earned the award as an offensive lineman. Childress is a 3.39 All Level PE major and Crain is a 3.84 Criminal Justice student.
