HSU Set To Host State LineMAN Challenge

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' football team will host the fifth annual State LineMAN Challenge on Saturday morning at Shelton Stadium.

Teams from all over the state have qualified for the event through regional competitions around the state and 37 teams in three different divisions will compete for the title of state champion.

Arlington High is the two-time defending champion in Division I. Gatesville is back to defend its title in Division II and Anson is back as the defending champion in Division III.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will conclude around noon. Admission is free for spectators.

 

Division I

Abilene High, Arlington High, Abilene Cooper, Cedar Creek, Denison, Georgetown, Hendrickson, LD Bell, Midland Lee, San Antonio O'Connor, Red Oak, Weatherford

Division II

All Saints, Alvarado, Cuero, Gatesville, Graham, Liberty Hill, Life School, Snyder, Sweetwater, Wylie

Division III

Alvord, Anson, Brock, Clyde, Dublin, Grandview, Hamlin, Hawley, Jim Ned, Liberty Hill Gold, Marion, Merkel, San Saba, Stockdale

 

The lineman will compete in 10 different strength and conditioning events.

Forward Tire Throw - throw small tire forward for distance (Five-man - total distance)
Bench - bench press total reps (185 lbs = 1 point, 205 lbs = 3 pts, 225 lbs = 5 pts) - (Five-man total points)
Farmers Walk - total time for five – distance with farmer's bag
4-Way DB Stack - stack db's on plyo boxes (Five-man total time)
Tire Flip Medley Relay - Five guys rotate after four consecutive flips – 20-flip relay for total time
PowerDrive – Five-man relay for time
Private Ryan – Five-man relay for total time with a weighted implement.  
Sled Relay - (total time for five) one guy push 10 yds, one push 15, one push 20 - spin it, one push 15, one push 10
Obstacle Course - total time for five participants
Monster Sled - three pushers, two riders (total time for 50-yard push (25 down and 25 back)
Tug of War – Five-man teams, single elimination (Only top four finishers awarded points)
