Six Cowboys Honored By ASC

 

RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team had six players honored by the American Southwest Conference in the postseason awards that were announced on Tuesday.

Joe Hoeup, a senior guard from Santa Rosa, Calif., was named a first-team all-ASC West Division selection after leading the Cowboys with 16.2 points per game.

Freshman forward Steven Quinn was named the ASC West freshman of the year after averaging 12.1 points for the Cowboys.

Junior point guard Chris Barrett was named second-team all-ASC West. He led the league with 129 assists and he averaged 9.8 points per game.

Junior guard Keenan Holdman was named to the ASC West all-defensive team. Freshman Neal Chambliss joined Quinn on the ASC West all-freshman team.

Senior forward Jalen Terry was named honorable mention all-ASC West Division.

Joe Neal of Concordia was named the player of the year, Byrale Carter of Mary Hardin-Baylor was the newcomer of the year and Jola Otubu of Sul Ross State was named defensive player of the year.

The awards are voted on by the league's head coaches. Teams are not allowed to vote for their own players and the voting is done prior to the ASC Tournament.
