ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team evened its record at 2-2 with a decisive 87-63 win over Texas Lutheran on Friday evening at the Mabee Complex.
The Cowboys dominated the game on the glass outrebounding the Bulldogs 48-35 and HSU held TLU to 32.2 percent shooting. The Cowboys also hit 19-of-21 free throws in the contest while the Bulldogs went just 17-for-33.
Keenan Holdman hit a pair of 3-pointers in the opening minutes to propel the Cowboys to a 12-5 lead. Hsu never trailed in the contest and lead by as many as 18 points in the first half and the Cowboys led 45-31 at halftime.
The Cowboys pushed the lead out to 53-33 early in the second half and TLU made one little push to cut the deficit to 57-46. HSU then pushed the lead back out and emptied the bench early as all 17 players played and 15 of them scored.
Nathan Josephs had 17 points to pace the Bulldogs.
HSU will host Schreiner at 3 p.m. on Saturday. TLU fell to 1-3 on the season.
