Cowboys Rally For Win At Schreiner
KERRVILLE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat Schreiner 75-73 on Tuesday evening at the SU Event Center in Kerrville.

Schreiner jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first half before the Cowboys cut it down to 31-29 on a Duane Hopper bucket right before halftime.

In the second half, Schreiner again came out hot and pushed its lead out to 45-31 with 16:36 to play in the game.

HSU immediately responded with three straight Caleb Spoon 3-pointers and a Justin Jones basket to cut it to 45-42 with 13:45 to play. Jones' dunk with 10:36 to play gave the Cowboys their first lead of the game at 52-51.

Nathaniel Jack gave the Cowboys a 66-60 lead with 5:24 to play on a 3-pointer, it was the biggest HSU lead of the night. Schreiner responded with the next five points.

HSU led 71-69 when Ryan Leiss buried a 3-pointer to give the Cowboys a 74-69 lead with 1:00 to play. Back-to-back baskets by Keenan Gumbs made it 74-73 with :03 to play. Jack then split a pair of free throws and Gumbs' desperation 3-pointer was off the mark as the Cowboys held on for the win.

Jones led the Cowboys with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Jack again filled the stat sheet with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals while playing all 40 minutes. Leiss had 13 points for HSU.

Phillip Kee led Schreiner with 22 points and Gumbs added 17.

HSU is now 7-4 on the year and Schreiner fell to 3-6. The Cowboys will be off until the Classic in Las Vegas on Dec. 29 and 30.
