Late TLU 3-Pointers Sink Cowboys
SEGUIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds of play to beat Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team 66-65 on Monday evening in Seguin.

The Cowboys jumped out to an 8-0 lead, all by Duane Hopper in the first 3:40 of the game. HSU pushed the lead to 10 on three different occasions in the first half, the last coming at 23-13 with 10:21 to play in the half. TLU countered with a 9-0 run. HSU led 32-27 at halftime.

HSU led all of the second half until Zach Behr hit a 3-pointer with 6:15 to play to give the Bulldogs a 53-52 lead. Neither team led by more than three points the rest of the way. Nathaniel Jack and Behr exchanged three straight baskets and HSU led 61-60 with 1:57 to play and Jack made two free throws with :56 to play to make it 63-60.

Jordan Kouremetis tied the game with :30 to play with a 3-pointer and Jack came back and made a layup with :16 to play to give HSU a 65-63 lead with :16 to go but Behr countered with a 3-pointer with :10 to give TLU the lead. Jack got a good look that missed and Justin Jones rebounded and his shot at the buzzer fell out and the Bulldogs escaped with the win.

Jack led the Cowboys with 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists and Hopper had 16 points and seven rebounds. Jones had 12 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots.

Behr led TLU with 21 points and Kouremetis added 15.

The Cowboys are now 6-4 on the year and Texas Lutheran improved to 5-3. HSU will close out the fall semester with a game at Schreiner on Tuesday.
