LONGVIEW, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team came away with a 69-65 win over LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference action at the Solheim Arena in Longview on Monday evening.

Neither team led by more than five points in a game that featured 15 ties and 13 lead changes.

Nate West scored eight straight points for LeTourneau to give the Yellowjackets a 65-64 lead with 1:38 to play but Ryan Leiss hit two free throws with 1:25 to play to give the Cowboys a 66-65 lead. HSU then got a stop on defense.

Dashun Dixon was fouled and hit two free throws with :20 to play to give HSU a 68-65 lead with :20 to play. West had a couple of looks at 3-pointers in the final :10 but could not tie it up.

Justin Jones scored a season-best 24 points for the Cowboys and also had eight rebound and five blocked shots. Dashun Dixon had 12 points for HSU.

West led LeTourneau with 23 points.

HSU is now 5-3 on the year and 3-1 in conference play. LeTourneau fell to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in ASC play. The Cowboys will return home Saturday at 3 p.m. to host Belhaven.
