ABILENE, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons fell 8-5 to Arlington Baptist on Monday night at Hunter Field.
Chase Buchannan started for the Cowboys and worked three scoreless innings. The Cowboys mixed it up on the mound the rest of way as Justin Adams, Hayden Day, Taylor McMackin and Andrew Hernandez all received work.
ABU scored first in the fourth inning on a two-out single by Payton Walk.
Stephen Webb tied the game up in the sixth inning with a solo home run. ABU then exploded for six runs in the seventh.
Ryan Rivera earned the win allowing five runs on nine hits in seven and one-third innings. Ricky Boren earned the save.
HSU added three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Brett Hudspeth had a two-run single and Rains added an RBI double.
Hudspeth and Rains each had three hits for the Cowboys and Webb had three for ABU.
The Cowboys are now 18-17 on the year and will close the regular season at Howard Payne this weekend. Arlington Baptist is now 17-21 on the year.
